How to Reset Maytag Centennial Washer [Methods]
Before trying the below mentioned reset methods, it is important to make confirmation about the following things.
- The washer shouldn’t be running a wash cycle
- Apply the reset method if the cycle is stuck or an error code is displayed
- In case your washer is currently running a cycle, wait for it to finish and then apply the reset method
1. Disconnecting the Power
The simplest and easiest way to reset Maytag Centennial Washer is to disconnect the washer’s power supply for a short time, around 3-5 minutes. In the absence of electricity, the machine’s electrical charge will be allowed to dissipate and will perform a reset easily. If this doesn’t work then unplug the washer once again and wait for a longer duration. For safety purposes, turn OFF the machine on the control panel.
2. Pressing Cancel/Power and Pause/Start Buttons
If you try to find a reset button on a Maytag Centennial Washer then you wouldn’t be able to find one. But pressing certain keys in a specific order can do the trick.
- First press Power/Cancel button
- Pick a fresh new cycle to run
- Now press Start/Pause to reset the washer
- Run a cycle to make confirmation about the correct working of Maytag washer
3. Standby Mode:
- If the above two methods didn’t work out for you then it is time to adopt the standby mode method.
- Keep pressing the Start/Pause button for 3 seconds so that the washer can enter the standby mode.
- After all the indicator lights have gone off, turn the cycle selector knob in the clockwise direction.
- Within the time duration of 6 seconds, rotate the selection knob in the right direction for one click. After that wait for half a second and again do the same for clockwise direction.
- Now it is time to turn the selection dial one click and wait for half a second.
- Turn the selection knob in the counter-clockwise direction and wait for 30 seconds.
- For the last click, turn the selection knob in a clockwise direction.
After all the above mentioned steps have been performed, the LCD lights should be blinking and the lid-locked indicator light should be flickering ON and OFF. After reaching this stage, perform the below steps to complete the reset procedure.
- Keep twisting the selection knob as long as the LCD panel is showing only Wash, Done and Rinse as operational.
- Select the Start Once option to begin the process.
- Now it’s time to remove the washer’s plug from the main power supply.
- After waiting for 10 seconds, plug back the power supply.
At this stage, the washer shouldn’t start up and there shouldn’t be lights blinking on the LCD screen. The procedure is considered to be done if the washer doesn’t begin spinning.
In case your washer has started within 10 seconds, it means the reset has not been performed properly. You need to adopt a different reset method here.
4. Lifting and Closing Lid
A top-loader Maytag washer can be reset by lifting the lid six times and that too within a 12 seconds duration. This method is not applicable with front load washers.
- Unplug the washer’s supply for 60 seconds.
- Now establish the connection again. Lift and close the lid exactly 6 times in a 12 seconds duration.
- Make sure to do this within 30 seconds after turning the power back on.
- Close the lid properly six times.
- Run a test cycle to confirm whether the reset has been completed or not.
How to Reset a Coin-Operated Maytag Washer?
In case of a coin-operated Maytag washer, perform the following steps.
- Unlock the lock box first of all
- Find the Delicate and Knits option using the LED display
- Keep pressing the Delicate and Knits button for 5 seconds
- As soon as the LED display starts blinking, it means that all the error codes have been cleared and the washer has been reset successfully
- Run a test cycle to make a confirmation
